First Issue Review – Limb By Limb
Billed as ‘young urban thinking’, Limb by Limb magazine is the first product from Speakeasy Media, the multimedia publishing company launched by Jasper Gibson last year. It mixes highly-stylised features and articles designed to appeal to the target audience of professional men and women, aged 18-35 who live and work in London.
Commenting on the launch, Gibson says: “Limb by Limb is a brand name and is not restricted to one format; the magazine mixes humour with current affairs”. As may be expected from a multimedia company, there is also a website to accompany the magazine which can be found at www.limbbylimb.co.uk.
The first issue contains an article on the drugs problem in the USA, which encompasses the opinions of both George Soros and Jacques Derrida, and Paul Majendie covers the funeral of a young IRA man, killed by his own bomb. Other features include an interview with ‘lounge legend’ Lenny Beige and a profile of London singer Alison David. The next issue promises articles on Scientology, revolutionary groups using the internet to further their causes and the obligatory sexual deviants – those who enjoy the thrill of limb amputation. How appropriate.
Limb by Limb is priced at £2.40 and is published on a bi-monthly basis. Speakeasy Media promise further projects in the near future.
