Inflation Sticks At 2.1%
Underlying inflation remained at 2.1% during September 1999, according to figures released by the Office of National Statistics this morning. Inflation also stood at 2.1% during August, and has undershot the Government’s 2.5% target for the last six months.
The headline rate of inflation was up 0.4% on August 1999 and was 1.1% higher than September 1998. The Retail Prices Index (RPI) for September 1999 was 166.2.
