Radio Services Acquires East Sussex Radio
Radio Services (RSL) has announced the acquisition of Sovereign Radio through a deal with the station’s owners, East Sussex Radio. Radio Services Sussex, which was itself bought by the Radio Investments group in May this year, has acquired 79% of East Sussex Radio for an undisclosed sum; the remaining 21% of the company is already held by Radio Investments.
Radio Services operates six radio stations, mainly in the south and south-east of England. Commenting on the deal, RSL managing director, Lisa Kerr, says: “We’re delighted that Sovereign Radio will become part of the expanding Radio Services family… Our newly-appointed commercial director, Paul McCartney, will be joining the station as interim managing director when he joins RSL in December.”
Sovereign Radio broadcasts to the Sussex towns of Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford and has a weekly reach of 21,000 listeners according to the June 1999 RAJAR survey.
