The second episode of freshly relocated The Great British Bake Off (8pm) continued to attract an impressive prime time audience, even if viewers were down slightly on last week’s BBC One début.
An average audience of 6.9 million viewers – down from the first episode’s 7.2 million – tuned in to see the remaining 11 contestants tackle the deadly art of biscuit baking, securing a 32% share.
To be fair there wasn’t much competition at 8pm with ITV’s 100 Year Old Drivers, a documentary about the 200 drivers currently on the UK’s roads who are over the age of 100, netting 3.4 million viewers and a 16% share.
Over on Channel 4, Sarah Beeny was once again convincing desperate property owners to take a huge gamble in Double Your House for Half the Money (8pm). The second episode from the third series brought in 706,000 viewers and a 3% share.
Straight up afterwards, the latest visit to Southmead Hospital’s maternity ward, as the sixth series of One Born Every Minute (9pm) reached its crowning conclusion. The final episode saw the ward reach maximum capacity, securing Channel 4’s biggest audience of the day with 1.4 million and a 7% share.
Clare Balding’s international veterinary adventures in the second episode of Operation Wild brought the biggest 9pm audience to BBC One, with 3 million viewers and a 15% share.
Over on ITV, serial soap star Michelle Collins uncovered some dark family history in the not-quite-Who Do You Think You Are?, Secrets from the Clink (9pm). The sad tales from the past were watched by just 1.9 million viewers and a 10% share.
Earlier in the day Emmerdale (ITV, 7pm) focused on Donna Windsor’s final days, winning 5.2 million viewers, while Wednesday’s trip to Coronation Street (ITV, 7:30pm) secured the day’s second biggest audience, with 6.4 million viewers and a 33% share joining in for the latest soapy action.
