US research group, Forrester Research, has acquired UK internet specialists, Fletcher Research, for an undisclosed, the two companies announced today. Fletcher specialises in internet research and recently launched the Internet User Monitor, the UK’s largest Net usage survey undertaken so far (see Fletcher Launches Largest Ever Poll Of UK Internet Users). Forrester is an independent company which analyses technology change and its impact on business, consumers and society.
The merger of the two will create a powerful source of research and analysis on internet commerce across Europe. The management team at Fletcher, along with co-founders William Reeve and Neil Bradford, will remain in place. According to Bradford: “Fletcher and Forrester share very similar cultures, research philosophies and a focus on internet analysis best practices.” “Forrester’s infrastructure, support, and resources enhance our leading position in the UK while enabling us to accelerate the expansion of our proprietary service offerings into key European markets,” adds Reeve.
Forrester is planning to extend Fletcher’s Internet User Monitor, along with the company’s Internet Adwatch system, into the European marketplace. Both currently serve mainly the UK.
