Underlying Inflation Up Slightly In October

The underlying rate of inflation – which excludes mortgage interest payments – was 2.2% in October, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics this morning. This is up 0.1% points compared to September. The headline rate also rose slightly from 1.1% last month, to 1.2% for October. The Retail Prices Index for October 1999 was 166.5.
