Following its recent début in the UK, Business Insider has announced the appointment of Gary Kakoulli as commercial director, UK and EMEA, where he will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships with brands and driving mobile advertising revenue.
Kakoulli joins the London-based Business Insider team from the Financial Times, where he was both head of mobile and head of digital learning & development.
Kakoulli has also held roles at News International, where he played a part in the relaunch of Times Online, and Future Publishing, where he was digital advertising sales director.
Commenting on the appointment, Julian Childs, managing director of Business Insider UK, said: “Gary is an extremely valuable hire for Business Insider.
“With over 50% of our readers accessing our content through mobile, Gary’s mobile expertise and extensive digital sales experience will be crucial in engaging with advertisers to reach our audience: the next generation of business leaders. We’re very excited to have someone of Gary’s calibre join our growing team.”
Kakoulli said: “With its unique approach to news, Business Insider already has impressive UK market penetration, so I’m thrilled to expand even more its fast-growing footprint in the UK and EMEA regions.
“The brand’s success in social and mobile aligns perfectly with my expertise and my aspiration to help the UK team build a successful and influential digital native media company.”
