Metro Networks Move Into Television

Metro Networks, suppliers of traffic and travel bulletins to UK radio stations, will make its first move into television broadcasting this month. It has signed a deal with London News Network, jointly owned by Carlton TV and LWT, to provide live broadcasts across the capital.

Operating from its Centre Point offices in central London, information will be provided directly from the Metropolitan Police Force’s 300 traffic cameras. Broadcasting as a daily service at 18:30 on the weekday London Tonight news programme from September 27, it will be presented by Louise Perry. The service will be complemented by a twice-daily spot on Carlton’s Travel Talk website.

Stan Park, commercial director of Metro Networks said: “This is a terrific deal for Metro which broadens our business base and gives the company some major TV branding.”
