Chrysalis Radio To Bid For Second London Licence

Chrysalis Radio has confirmed it is still in the running for a digital multiplex licence for London after the Radio Authority announced last week that due to demand two more licences for the capital would be made available (see Capital And EMAP Win First London Digital Licence).

Phil Riley, chief executive of Chrysalis Radio, was positive about the future of Chrysalis despite losing out to the CE Digital consortium when the first licence was given away last week. “We are still committed to digital radio and will be competing vigorously for the second licence”. The first of the two licences will be advertised this week.

He said that Chrysalis would have to go back to the drawing board to fulfil the Radio Authority requirements without overlapping what has already been covered by the CE Digital consortium. In particular London News Radio, which was offering services from both Capital and Chrysalis is now tied to Capital.
