Clear Channel appoints ITV’s Sarah Speake as new CMO

Out of home ad specialist Clear Channel UK has announced the appointment of ITV’s Sarah Speake as its new chief marketing officer.

The newly created role will see Speake join the media owner’s UK management board with responsibility for driving all marketing strategy across Clear Channel’s next generation product portfolio.

Speake joins Clear Channel from ITV where she was director of commercial marketing and research. Prior to ITV, she spent seven years at Google in a variety of senior roles, most recently as strategic marketing director.

Commenting on the move, Speake said “I’m excited to be joining Clear Channel at a critical stage in their trailblasing investment in the out-of-home sector.

“With the recent innovative launches of Storm, Adshel Live and PlayLondon, I see a superb opportunity for advertisers and agencies to use out-of-home to test creative boundaries and create an even deeper sense of engagement with consumers. Equally, the fact that Clear Channel partnerships are underpinned by such a ground-breaking delivery system as Play IQ, is inevitably attractive for any data-driven Marketer.”

Andrew Morley, CEO of Clear Channel UK, who Speake will report to, said: “We are delighted to have further strengthened our senior leadership team with Sarah’s appointment.

“Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the role. Not only is she commercially and technically savvy, she also joins us with a well-deserved reputation as a motivator, coach and mentor. I look forward to Sarah joining the team at what is a key time for Clear Channel as we roll-out our nationwide digital proposition.”

Speake will take up her new role in early March 2015.
