Asda Teams Up With Sun’s CurrantBun
Customers of supermarket chain Asda are to be given access to CurrantBun.com, the Sun‘s free ISP (see Newsline). The alliance between Asda and News International, owner of the Sun, is to be backed by a major press and television campaign. Asda’s 6 million weekly customers will be offered CurrantBun, which launched at the end of March.
Ellis Watson, general manager of CurrantBun, commented: “We are enormously excited about helping Asda to be at the forefront of the dramatic change that awaits the retail world. In the first three weeks of coming out of the oven the Bun has proved itself to be a very big player indeed.”
Asda’s online delivery service is planned to be made available though CurrantBun.com. Rival supermarket chain, Tesco, has already started to roll its online shopping facilities out across the country.
