Capital Radio Gives The Golden Touch

Capital Radio is rebranding its Cardiff based station Touch Radio after gaining approval from the Radio Authority. The station will become Capital Gold 1359 and 1305AM, and will have its schedule revised.

The new schedule will include Tony Blackburn on the drive time show, and a stronger emphasis on sport across the station. The official launch of the newly branded Capital Gold will take place on 1 July.

Part of Red Dragon Radio, Touch Radio is aimed at the 35+ audience, and saw a 7% market increase in its market share according to the last RAJAR survey, attracting over 146,000 listeners from across South Wales each month.

Station director Beverly Cleall commented: “The revised schedule and rebranding will ultimately increase the station’s popularity and its commercial success. One of our biggest strengths is our closeness to our audience and we will retain aspects of the station that have built up the enormous loyalty of the existing Touch listenership.”
