Emap’s Project J Turns Up The Heat

After a long wait, Emap Metro has revealed details about the publisher’s ‘top secret’ venture, Project J (see Newsline). The title is to be called Heat and is due for launch on 2 February.

The weekly entertainment magazine is to be aimed at the 20-30 year old age group, and is to feature interviews, reviews and celebrity news and gossip, as well as TV listings. The title is being compared to the likes of the Radio Times and Time Out. The initial print run will be 100,000.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Heat‘s cover price will be around £1, and that Emap intends to spend between one and four million pounds on its launch and promotion. The launch campaign will include TV adverts created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

The magazine’s editorial is expected to be light and breezy, with a ‘reverence for its subject’, and is being tipped as Emap’s largest consumer magazine project to date.
