Jackie Loses Out On Raunchy Market

A bastion of the teenage girl’s magazine market looks set to close on July 3 as sales for DC Thomson’s Jackie magazine drop after a 30-year stint.

Editor of the magazine Pam Wilson told MediaTel this morning that she believes today’s teenage readers are looking for editorial a little more raunchy than that offered by Jackie and that essentially it has outgrown its market. She sees the company’s recent teenage launch, Shout, as taking over from Jackie, being more apt for today’s young reader.

“We will let it go with dignity” says Wilson who saw sales plummet to below 57,000.
