Talk Increases Music And Astrology Content

The Radio Authority has altered Talk Radio’s Promise of Performance to allow the station to broadcast a greater proportion of music each hour. Whilst Talk must still broadcast 90% speech-only over a 24 hour period, three consecutive hours may now contain 25% music, up from 10% previously.

At the same time Talk has brought in editor-in-chief of European Press, Andrew Neil, and crystal ball gazer Mystic Meg to discuss daily news events on the new breakfast show, Big Boys Breakfast (see Talk Radio At Breakfast Time).

It is also understood that the contract with Independent Radio News has been terminated by the station’s new chief, Kelvin MacKenzie. It is likely, given MacKenzie’s ties with News International (major stakeholder in BSkyB), that Sky News will be brought in to provide the station’s news bulletins.
