Inflation Overshoots Government Target
Underlying inflation rose last month, overshooting the government target rate for the first time since July. New official figures from the Office for National Statistics show the key underlying inflation rate rose from 2.5% in November to 2.6% in December. Headline inflation, which includes mortgage interest payments, was down from 3.0% to 2.8%.
