Sky Hires Agency To Redefine Brand
BSkyB has today announced the appointment of branding consultancy Wolff Olins. The group will work with BSkyB in an effort to redesign the broadcaster’s brand identity.
Chief executive of Sky, Mark Booth, was enthusiastic about the development: “Wolff Olins are recognised as the leading branding agency and it is therefore a major coup for us to work with them. This step is designed to further Sky’s strategic positioning, as well as strengthen and maintain our competitive advantage in the market.”
The broadcaster underwent various re-designs last year, changing its Sky News logo (see Newsline), and also unveiling a new brand for its digital service, which it launched at the beginning of October (see Newsline).
In addition to this, Sky also re-branded its movie channels twice in the past 18 months. In November 1997, the Movie Channel became Sky Movies Screen 2 and Sky Movies changed to Sky Movies Screen 1 (see Newsline). Then in July of last year the broadcaster announced that Sky Movies Screen 1 was to become Sky Moviemax; Sky Movies Screen 2 was to change to Sky Premier, and Sky Movies Gold was to be called Sky Cinema (see Newsline).
