Janet Street-Porter Appointed As Editor Of Independent On Sunday

News has emerged this afternoon that Independent News & Media has appointed Janet Street-Porter as editor of the Independent On Sunday, with immediate effect. She replaces Kim Fletcher, who is leaving the group following Street-Porter’s appointment.

Street-Porter was involved in setting up the cable channel Live TV and has also spent seven years as a chief executive at the BBC. She will be reporting to editor in chief Simon Kelner.

Brendan Hopkins, chief executive of Independent News & Media, commented: “We feel Janet will bring a new direction and are confident that increased circulation will be the result. The financial position is now much stronger and we remain on track for break-even with both titles within the three-year time frame we set ourselves on acquisition.”
