WPP Sees Positive Trade In First Half Of 1999
The advertising and media group WPP has released a trading update after its annual general meeting today.
The group’s worldwide revenues were up by almost 11% on a constant currency basis. UK interests for the group showed a 13% increase in revenues. WPP’s public affairs and PR sectors showed the biggest rise in the first 5 months of 1999, growing by almost 26%. Information and consultancy increased by almost 18%, and advertising, media planning, buying and research, run through WPP’s J. Walter Thompson and Ogilvy & Mather agencies, grew by almost 4%.
Combined revenues of all WPP’s company’s were up by 5%.
Earlier this year, the group reported an almost 12% rise in its first quarter revenues for the UK in 1999 (see Newsline).
