Soutar Leaves EMAP To Edit US Maxim

Mike Soutar, creative director at EMAP On Air and former MD at Kiss FM, has been lured away from EMAP by Dennis Publishing to become editor-in-chief of the US version of its Maxim magazine.

In the US, only Rodale Press’ Men’s Health has a higher circulation than Maxim in the men’s lifestyle market. Soutar is charged with the task of driving the title’s sales further and will be aided by James Kaminsky and Stephen Perrin who have been appointed by Dennis as co-editors.

Ironically, Soutar will be facing competition in the States from the very magazine he helped create, when EMAP Metro launches FHM in the US this autumn (see EMAP Metro Prepares FHM For US Launch).

Separately, Dennis Publishing has appointed Seth Hawthorne as its new advertising controller.
