ITV Claims 40% Viewing Share For FA Cup Semi-Final Match

This weekend saw some major sports action on the box as a number of top events took place. ITV’s Sunday coverage of the Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup Semi-Final drew in an average viewing figure of 5.9 million and an average viewing share of 40% for viewing at that time. Later in the day, the Network claimed an average viewing share of 7.5 million – 35% share – with the Brazilian Grand Prix at 5:30pm. The peak viewing for the race reached 8.5 million, according to figures from the Network Centre.

BBC1 had some 10 million viewers tuning in to watch its coverage of the Grand National at 3:35pm on Saturday.

BBC1’s coverage of the Wales v England Rugby Union’s Five Nations Championship on Sunday attracted an average of 5 million viewers and peaked at nearly 7 million. Earlier in the weekend, on the Saturday afternoon, BBC2 drew nearly 3 million viewers for its coverage of the France v Scotland Five Nations match which kicked off just after 2pm.
