News International Claim ‘Huge Success’ For CurrantBun
The Sun‘s new free internet service, CurrantBun (see The Sun Serves Up CurrantBun), has roused a tremendous response from both readers of the paper and potential content providers, according to a statement from the tabloid’s parent company News International (NI).
Claiming tens of thousands of calls to the CurrantBun hotline, Sun editor David Yelland says that interest and enthusiasm for the service has “surpassed even the most optimistic forecasts by 2-1.”
Ellis Watson, marketing director, says: “What has surprised me is not only the take-up, but the number of calls I have had from content providers all wanting to get on board. They recognise the power of the Sun‘s readership – much bigger than, and younger than the Mirror and much more interested in new products and ideas,” he boasts.
