National Newspaper NRS – February 1999

Performance was generally poor in February this year as far as readership levels were concerned, according to the latest NRS figures. The Daily Mail, Financial Times and the Mirror were the only national titles to show improvements in readership during the second month of 1999. The Daily Mail and the FT showed readership increases of 8.9% and 8.7% respectively.

The Guardian suffered the biggest drop in popularity year on year, falling 14.6% to a readership of 1.1 million.

Again, the News Of The World has the highest readership of all the national newspapers. Despite suffering a drop in readership of 5.7%, the title has a current readership of over 10.9 million.
