EMAP Acquires French Publisher

Media group EMAP has this morning announced the acquisition of Groupe Taitbout, the French publisher of Pleine Vie. The deal is the latest move in EMAP’s international expansion, following the acquisition of US groups Petersen in December 1998 (see EMAP Makes £720m US Move) and General Media’s automotive group in January (see EMAP Augments US Interests With £22m Acquisition).

Pleine Vie targets the over 50s market, primarily women, and has a monthly circulation of around 825,000. As part of the deal EMAP has bought a travel business, Taitbout Voyages and a custom publishing operation, ETC. EMAP already publishes Modes & Travaux and Top Santé in France.

At the end of last week EMAP bought Wagadon, publisher of The Face and Arena magazines, for an undisclosed sum (see EMAP Boosts Consumer Magazine Portfolio With Acquisition Of Wagadon).
