National Newspaper ABC Round-Up – June 1999
Month on month comparisons of the latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) show that about half the national newspapers displayed some significant rises in sales during June this year. The Mail On Sunday took on the most new sales during the month, and the Sunday Sport enjoyed an 8.1% rise in its circulation. The Sunday Mirror sustained the heaviest actual losses of all the nationals year on year.
The most popular of the qualities, the Sunday Times, enjoyed a year on year rise of 1.5% and the Financial Times enjoyed the largest actual and proportional rise in circulation during June, rising 8.8%.
The mid market trend continued, with the Express titles falling and the Mail titles increasing their circulation year on year. The Sunday Express lost 7.6% of its sales the Mail On Sunday rose by 3.1%.
The News Of The World continues to be the UK’s favourite national newspaper although its circualtion flagged by nearly 123,000 sales last month. The Racing Post enjoyed the biggest proportional rise of all the popular nationals although it has the lowest circulation of all the titles in this market sector.
