Perfect storm as The Apprentice enters the London property market

Yesterday’s edition of The Apprentice (9pm) saw Lord Sugar task his hopefuls into taking on a role perfectly suited to the candidates’ particular brand of forced smarmy charm – the London property agent.

The perfect storm of bullshit, feigned mandatory smiling and severely overpriced wares saw not one, but two contestants leave the show, with a manipulative and evil princess finally getting the comeuppance she deserved while the village idiot randomly quit even though he actually won the task.

An audience of 4.6 million viewers – a now standard amount in these post-I’m a Celeb times – tuned in to find out who in their right minds would buy a multimillion pound apartment from an Apprentice candidate.

The whole greedy property debacle led to some unpleasant disagreements in the Bridge Café, which naturally developed into intensely hostile (but always highly entertaining) scenes in the board room, resulting in a 19% share.

At the same time, ITV’s golden (silver, at least) goose was finally put out to pasture as the 15th series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (8:30pm) was tasked with surviving without Lady C’s venomous presence.

Last night saw the demented and poisonous (but, again, hugely entertaining) socialite leave the show for medical reasons although it’s not currently known if Lady C and Spencer Matthews share the same suspect personal trainer.

7.9 million viewers tuned in to see Lady Colin Campbell reintroduced into (relatively speaking) reality, resulting in a 33% share and topping the TV Twitter chart.

At 9pm BBC Two explored a borough that’s experienced more misfortune and tragedy than Walford with the grim This is Tottenham securing 794,000 viewers and a 3% share.

On Channel 4 was the third and final episode of real life crime solving puzzle The Murder Detectives at 9pm. Airing over three consecutive nights, the harrowing documentary followed the investigation into the murder of a young Bristolian in and the fallout in the wake of his death.

Last night saw 1.1 million viewers tune in for some extremely bitter sweet closure, with the entire ground breaking endeavour wrapping up with a4% share.

On Channel 5, the slightly more depressing Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away (9pm) secured 860,000 million viewers and a 4% share.

At 8pm, Cuffs secured 2.5 million viewers and an 11% share for BBC One while MasterChef: The Professionals was watched by 2.6 million viewers and an 11% share.

The Supervet (8pm) on Channel 4 netted 1.4 million viewers and a 6% share while GPs: Behind Closed Doors secured 780,000 viewers and a 4% share on Channel 5.

Earlier on ITV, Emmerdale (7pm) bagged 5.8 million viewers and a 30% share an hour long edition of Coronation Street (7:30pm) bagged 6.5 million viewers and a 31% share.
