Regional Independent Media Appoints New Sales Director
Mark Soden, group general display manager at Scotsman Publications, is to become sales director at Regional Independent Media (RIM) where he will be in charge of national and provincial sales.
Soden replaces Richard Parkinson, who left RIM to become assistant managing director of Yorkshire Post Newspapers at the end of last year. Soden will also join the board at RIM when he starts there on 1 March. At the same time, Louise Hudson, acting national and provincial sales director since Parksinon’s departure, is now to leave the company.
RIM, which publishes the Yorkshire Post, has recently been involved in protracted takeover wrangles for the Mirror Group. A £913 million, or 200p per share, offer from RIM was rejected by Mirror Group whilst rival bidder Trinity International was believed to be valuing Mirror at around 165p per share. As a result of the public boardroom rumpus, Mirror chief executive, David Montgomery, stepped down (see Possibilities For Mirror Group). Since then there has been little development in discussions despite the fact that Montgomery was touted as the main obstacle to the closure of a deal.
