Dyke Disposes Of Granada Shares

Greg Dyke, the incoming director general of the BBC, has announced today that he has sold his shares in media group Granada. Dyke has faced pressure to dispose of the holding following criticisms that it represents a conflict of interest.

In a statement he said: “I have today disposed of my complete shareholding in Granada Plc. I have done this because I do not want my early days as director-general of the BBC to be dominated by questions and controversy about my shareholdings at a time when there are so many other things to do, and so many other things I want to discuss with the staff at the BBC.”

Earlier this week the BBC Board of Governors gave Dyke until April to relinquish his stake in the rival broadcaster, expected to be worth around £6 million (see Dyke’s Granada Holdings May Cause Conflict Of Interest).
