Wimbledon Scores For BBC2

BBC2’s coverage of the men’s singles final at Wimbledon makes it into the top thirty BARB programme rankings for week ending 4th July. Ranking the top thirty according to one showing only the final scrapes in at number 29 with 7.56m viewers.

Compared to last year however, the BBC2 tennis event of the year shows a marked decline in popularity; it came eighth in 1992’s rankings with 10.89m viewers. In fact total TV viewing,including non- terrestrial channels, fell 14% on 1992.

However BBC2’s share of viewing in that week has increased in 1993,taking

17.6% of the audience as opposed to 16.9% in 1992.
