Taylor Nelson Sees Strong Profit Growth In 1999

Global market research network, Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), has this morning announced strong 1999 pre-tax profit growth of 28.5% to £32.5 million. TNS, which is the fourth largest marketing information group in the world, showed turnover up 11.4% and earnings per share up 33.3% at 5.9p. The group, which currently holds the television audience research contract for BARB, says that 2000 has started well, with growth in the first two months in line with expectations.

Commenting on the results, chairman Tony Cowling said: “1999 was notable for the speed with which we adopted the internet as a data collection and delivery tool and for the launch of Taylor Nelson Sofres Interactive, which is spearheading our business with dotcom companies. We are a global company with a presence in all the major markets for our industry. The few remaining gaps have been identified and targeted. With our clients’ growing demand for syndicated and tracking information, we will continue to place emphasis on developing the higher margin side of our activities.”
