Inflation Rises To 2.2%
The underlying rate of inflation rose slightly last month to 2.2%, according to official figures. The key index, used by the Bank of England to set interest rates, which excludes mortgage payments, rose from 2.1% in January to 2.2% in February. This is still below the Government’s target rate of 2.5%, however.
The headline rate of inflation in February rose to 2.3%, compared with 2.0% in January, according to figures released by the Office of National Statistics this morning.
The Retail Prices Index was 167.5.
