Radio Authority Receives Application For Teeside Digital Licence
The Radio Authority has received one application for the local digital multiplex service licence for the Teeside area. EMAP is the sole applicant for the licence, which will deliver digital radio programming to an area of up to 700,000 adults.
EMAP has proposed a total of eight programme services for the area including Classic Gold, a dance station from Kiss, alternative music from Xfm, and easy listening from Magic 1170. In addition to commercial services, the BBC local radio service, BBC Cleveland, will also broadcast on the multiplex. Broadcasting is due to commence in June 2001.
The Radio Authority has also published details of its assessment of the local digital multiplex licence award for Edinburgh, which was awarded to Score Digital at the beginning of the month.
