BBC Schedule Repeats Research

11 hours and 50 minutes out of a total of 42 hours on the BBC this week will consist of repeats, according to research recently compiled by the Guardian. If films shown previously are added on, it comes to a total of 17 hours – 40% of total viewing hours. At the same time last year, repeats on the channel took up only 8 hours, 50 minutes (20% of total).

ITV, in comparison, will run a total of 5 hours, 30 minutes of repeats this week, also a substantial increase from last year (1 hour, 20 minutes) but no- where near BBC’s total. The Corporation aims for a peak-time repeats limit of 20%.
