TSMSi To Be Closed Following Granada/UNM Merger
TSMSi, the online sales house of United News & Media, is thought to be due for closure, following the merger of its parent company with Granada Media (see Future Of ITV Laid Out As Granada Seals Deal). UNM’s main sales house, TSMS, has already been merged with Granada’s, but it was originally thought that the online division would remain as a separate brand. Granada have so far declined to comment or confirm the rumours.
At the end of last month United News & Media and BT agreed to sell off their joint venture portal and ISP LineOne, which formed a central element of TSMSi (see United And BT Agree To Sell LineOne). The reason given for this decision was that while it was a successful venture, it did not fit with the refocussing plans of either company. It is thought that the remainder of TSMSi is similarly surplous to requirements, although the fate of the other sites in its portfolio, including dotmusic and yell has not been decided.
