FT.com Undergoes Revamp Into Global Business Portal
The new website of the Financial Times was launched today with the aim of making it a global business portal. The revamp, which has been expected since September (see Pearson Rolls Out FT Revamp Campaigns) sees www.ft.com combine its editorial content with a brand new set of tools to search the web, manage a working day and seek out leisure opportunities.
A few software problems were hindering the launch, however, particularly the new sector search covering 14 key industries and a service to allow news to be linked to current comment and analysis.
The improved service includes dossiers on key business people and discussion groups to allow users to interact with each other and with FT journalists. Users can get a free email account, company search information and archive material as well as career advice and information.
Michael Foster, managing director of FT.com said: “The new Ft.com aims to be the leading internet resource for business people everywhere, helping them to make sense of a complex, rapidly changing world. We want to put international business people within one click of the resources they need to do their job better.”
A £40m advertising campaign in the USA and Britain is backing the relaunch.
