Commercial Radio Reports Record Revenue
Commercial radio reported record revenue figures for 1999. The latest figures from the Radio Advertising Bureau saw total revenue reach £464 million – a growth of 11.1% compared to the previous year.
For the final quarter of 1999 the highest ever spend was recorded – £131 million. This was driven by the growth in national advertising which rose by 21.5% for the year and 20.4% for the quarter. Latest figures from the Advertising Association show that the annual rate of growth in the total display advertising marketplace was 6.6%, a rate that commercial radio outstripped almost twofold by recording 12.8% growth.
