The private equity firm Epris has today confirmed the acquisition of Time Inc. UK, publisher of NME, TV Times and InSyle magazines.
Time Inc UK will be sold by current owners Meredith Corporation – which purchased parent company Time Inc at the end of 2017 – for an undisclosed sum, although some sources suggest the deal is worth between $167m and $200m.
Time Inc. UK has more than 50 brands with a reach of around 17 million adults and 13 million online and digital users across the UK.
Amongst its other titles are brands such as Woman’s Weekly, Country Life, Ideal Home and Trusted Reviews, as well as specialist titles such as Decanter, Cycling Weekly and Horse & Hound.
The company is led by CEO Marcus Rich, who joined Time Inc. UK in 2014 from DMG Media.
Sir Bernard Gray, who is chairman of New Scientist and formerly non-executive director of Immediate Media, will become executive chairman. Gray was part of a consortium that acquired New Scientist from Reed Business Information last year.
The deal is expected to close by the end of the first quarter.
