![]()
The National Magazine Company is to launch a contract publishing division and has brought in experienced hands Julian Downing and Carey Sedgwick from contract publishers Citrus to head the operation.
Downing and Sedgwick, previously communications planning director and editorial and design director at Citrus, will become directors of the new division, part of NatMag Specialist Media (AIM), acquired by the company last year (see Natmags Enters Wedding Sector With Acquisition Of AIM). James Buchanan, managing director of NatMag Specialist Media (AIM), said: “We knew that we needed to bring in an experienced senior management team with a successful track record in contract publishing to fulfil our objective to be a major player in this sector.”
The division will offer customer magazines and distribution opportunities via NatMag’s news-stand magazine portfolio. Newly appointed director Julian Dowling said: “Most of our major competitors are now owned by marketing-led agency groups so NatMag Contract Publishing offers clients a real point of difference. We are publishing led which is the defining factor for clients who really want their customer magazines to work. Customer magazines are now seen as a vital part of the marketing mix.”
