Translucis Signs Student Bar Deal

Translucis Signs Student Bar Deal

Translucis, the ambient company which puts plasma information screens carrying editorial and advertising in clubs and bars, has signed a deal with NUS bars in 11 UK universities including Oxford, Brunel and Warwick.

Sue Aitken, marketing director at Translucis commented: “Now we can deliver a sub-sector that is becoming increasingly attractive to advertisers.”

The company is backed by drinks giant Diageo, and launched earlier this year (see No Chance Of A Quiet Pint As Translucis Targets 18-24 Year Olds In Pubs). Similar installation deals have since been struck with the Yates and Po Na Na chains and the company now claims to have a total reach of over 900,000 young adults a week. Brands which have advertised on the network so far include Channel 4, Reebok, Bacardi Breezer and Budweiser. The advertising shown on the plasma screens is scheduled centrally, delivered along with editorial by satellite and tailored according to the time of night, consumer mood and type of outlet.
