Doors Close On Sunday Supplement

The Sunday Times is to close Doors its weekly internet supplement.
The final issue of the magazine, which launched last October to provide consumers with an easy guide to the web, will be published this Sunday, after which it will be scaled down to form an eight page section of the Culture supplement.
Editor of The Sunday Times, John Witherow said: “Doors has been a success but has been affected by the cost cutting that is occurring throughout the industry. Although the magazine was popular it was seen as being very expensive to produce.”
A spokesperson for the magazine added: “All of the main columns will remain and the supplement will continue to be consumer led with the emphasis on critical website reviews and internet advice.”
Doors is the latest in a long line of internet related titles to close following the advertising downturn that has gripped the industry. Future Publishing’s Business 2.0 was sold in June (see Future To Dispose Of Business 2.0 In Debt Reduction Exercise), The Industry Standard was suspended last month (see The Industry Standard Suspended) and Centaur Communications yesterday announced the closure of New Media Creative (see Centaur Closes New Media Creative).
