More Jobs To Go At Emap Digital
Emap is cutting more jobs in its Digital division and is reintegrating the business into its off-line operations.
A spokesperson for Emap today refused to comment on reports that up to 60 jobs were to go across Emap’s portfolio of websites but confirmed that redundancies would occur.
“Emap’s digital operations will be reintegrated into various off-line networks, after which there will be a period of consultation and discussion as we try to find new positions for those who have been affected,” the spokesperson said.
Emap has more than halved its online investment over the last year as it focuses on achieving profitability.
In a trading statement released today the company confirmed that: “A more value conscious approach will be taken in relation to all future digital investments. Emap does not anticipate its digital investment in the current financial year to exceed £20m.”
The group emphasised that it remains committed to exploring online opportunities but conceded that the most difficult advertising marketplace for over a decade would make this difficult.
The announcement comes less than a month after IPC closed three of its internet sites and cut 90 jobs, following a review of its online business (see IPC Closes Online Business).
