Outdoor Advertising Association Disputes Industry Decline
The outdoor advertising industry has released ad revenue figures for 2000 showing growth of 21.5% compared to 1999. The findings, which come from the official Outdoor Advertising Association members survey, dispute indications of decline within the industry suggested by ACNielsen MMS yesterday (see UK Adspend Declines For The First Time In 10 Years).
Final figures for the year show revenues up from £457m in 1999 to £555m during 2000, according to OAA’s report. The second quarter was the most successful for the industry, during which revenues grew by 35.8%.
The findings corroborate the latest Advertising Association Forecast which predicts a 9.1% growth for the total display advertising market. Iain McLellan, director of the Outdoor Advertising Association, said: “These latest figures are great news ahead of the Outdoor industry conference in Barcelona on May 16-18, and confirm the potential for outdoor to further grow its share in the display advertising market”.
The report from ACNielsen MMS, to be released next week, however, show a 31.2% decrease in adspend across the outdoor industry.
