Underlying Inflation Rate Falls To Lowest Figure Since Records Began

The underlying rate of inflation has fallen to its lowest rate since records began. Figures for December from the Office of National Statistics showed it had dropped to 2.0%

Having risen in November to 3.2%, the headline rate of inflation also dropped, to 2.9%.

The Retail Prices Index for December was 172.2.
