Digital Radio Group Submits Bid For North West Digital Multiplex
The Digital Radio Group (DRg) (see Digital Radio Group Announces Final Shareholder Line-Up) has submitted a bid for the North West England regional digital radio multiplex licence. The licence is due to be awarded by the Radio Authority in the Spring of this year and will comprise 10 radio services and capacity for data services.
DRg’s proposal includes a dedicated news, information and community access station as well as radio stations serving the area’s young asian and gay communities. If successful, DRg proposes to launch its services in October this year.
Chairman of DRg Ralph Bernard said, “The North West has a character of its own. Our programme services respect that character and offer the region bespoke services tailored to its own needs. Our plans are based on detailed audience research and analysis of the existing radio landscape.”
