UAP Channels To Be Included On Astra

BSkyB refused to comment further to Mediatel this morning over reported plans to add extra channels to Astra, and to market them as a single subscription package.

The package incorporates five units, including Sky One and Sky News, along with the Discovery Channel, Bravo and the Childrens Channel. If the deal goes head Sky One and Sky News will become subscription based and the whole package will be sold to viewers for around £2.99 per month.

The move is similar to cable packages, with subscribers paying a small amount for a sandwich of channels and then being able to choose certain premium channels within the package.

Although BSkyB was willing to release any more detailed information on the deal it could confirm that talks have been taking place about the channel packaging, and will be implemented in the middle of next year if it goes ahead.
