Football Drives Corrie Fans To ITV2
![]()
ITV2 has claimed success with the first showing of terrestrial ratings winner Coronation Street on the sister channel to ITV. The digital and cable channel’s showing of Wednesday’s episode in its regular 7.30pm slot last week, while UEFA Champion’s League football was on terrestrial ITV, gained an average of 457,400 viewers, or a 4.6% share of audience in multi-channel homes.
ITV2 says this is the equivalent to it being the 6th most popular station for that period across the country as a whole, and the 4th most watched in multi-channel homes, behind ITV, BBC and Sky One. In cable homes, the channel was the third best rated during that time, with 398,000 viewers, or an 11% share.
The same episode was screened on terrestrial ITV at 8.30pm that night, following the football match. ITV2 says it will premier future editions of the soap in a similar way on Champions League nights in April and May.
