Digital Cut-Backs At Trinity Lead To Loss Of 60 Jobs

A scaling back of digital activities at Trinity Mirror is expected to lead to the loss of around 60 jobs. The regional newspaper group yesterday announced that it planned to reduce its digital investment following increased losses (see Profits Up At Trinity Mirror As ic24 Buyer Is Sought).

The centrepiece of its cut-backs will be the sell-off of its ISP, ic24, announced yesterday. Some of the ic-branded portals will not be part of the sell-off however and these are now expected to be shut down.

These include icShowbiz, which launched earlier at the end of last year (see Trinity Mirror Launches Showbusiness Website), icChoice and icSport. A spokesperson for the group said that around 60 people at the company’s Kieron Cross office have been told to go home and redundancies are expected.
