Lastminute.com will provide visitors to the sites with a range of sports related travel, entertainment offers and monthly competitions. Sports fans will be offered behind the scenes access to major sporting events, hospitality packages and the last available tickets to selected games and events.
Chief operating officer of Granada broadband, Max Graesser, said: “This is great news for millions of online sports fans worldwide who will not only enjoy our sport content but also lastminute.com’s sporting offers and transactional capability.”
UK managing director of lastminute.com, Helen Baker, said: “This exciting initiative will substantially increase lastminute.com’s presence in the sport and media world. We expect the four new sites to generate a high conversion rate of visitors to satisfied customers.”
The new sites, ITV-F1, ITV-Football, Liverpool FC.tv and Arsenal FC are expected to launch in July and August and will be promoted by both companies
Each of the websites will be lastminute owned and maintained and will feature options linking users to affiliated sites co-branded by both lastminute.com and Granada.
The launch of the new leisure sites comes just days after ITV announced plans to create an integrated internet platform, with the launch of ITV.com later in the year (see ITV Rebrands As ITV1)
