Big Brother Goes Out With A Bang

Channel 4’s Big Brother 2 reached its climax on Friday attracting a record number of viewers.
The reality TV show that has been dominating our screens for the last ten weeks finally came to an end on Friday with an average of 7.5m viewers tuning in to watch gay air steward, Brian, win the £70,000 prize. The end of series finale, which was aired at 10pm on Friday, attracted 8.5m viewers at its peak and enjoyed a peak share of 54.8%, the programme gained an average share of 46.4%.
Only 4.43m viewers tuned in to see Penny evicted in the first week of the show, but Big Brother’s popularity had increased by week eight with 5.57m switching on to say goodbye to Paul.
The finale of Big Brother 2 heralds the end of reality TV on our screens for the time being, after ITV’s Survivor finished on Thursday.
