Telewest Signs Carriage Deal With MUTV

MUTV, the television channel dedicated to Manchester United football team, has signed a carriage deal with Telewest. Under the two-year agreement the channel will be available to those signed up to the Active Digital service from 1 April.

In addition a new MUTV site on Telewest’s interactive service will allow digital subscribers to purchase merchandise and services associated with the team. Andrew Shaw, director of content acquisition and business development at Telewest, said: “This is great news for Telewest digital customers. Our interactive platform already offers the widest choice of high street brands and we are delighted to add a name like MUTV.”

Telewest has also announced that the Two Way TV channel has now gone live across its entire digital network. The channel, which broadcasts interactive games and quizzes, is now available in over 377,000 Active Digital homes.

The channel has signed content agreements with a range of broadcasters to offer programmes such as Question of Sport, Mastermind, Antique’s Roadshow and Fifteen to One. Later this year it plans to launch interactive “enhanced TV” programmes to enable viewers to play along with their favourite gameshows and sports events.
